A Message from the President
Thank you for visiting The Illinois Club Website.
I am Kathy Valdés, President for my second and final year
in 2018-2019. In my first year as President I had the privilege
of working with an outstanding group of dedicated volunteers
including Board Members, Committee Members, and Interest Group Chairs.
I look forward to working with this year's group of volunteers,
spending time with members I have come to know, and getting to know
new members of The Illinois Club. If you have not already done so,
I hope you consider joining us. In addition to our events
and interest groups, we have a Newcomer's Group ready
with a warm welcome for new members.
We have lived in the Champaign-Urbana area since 2012
when my husband took a job at the University. The Illinois Club
is special to me because, through the events and activities of the club,
I was able to meet people and find friends in a new community.
Not only have I met many interesting people and enjoyed many events,
I have been inspired by the bright and enthusiastic student scholars
who are supported by our club scholarships.
On behalf of the board, interest group chairs, and other volunteers
and members, I invite you to join us for event-filled year together.
I welcome ideas, questions, and/or suggestions,
please feel free to email me at
